Nom-Noms

I've provided links to some of the dishes I've made, but some don't require recipes. It should be noted that I do not eat factory-farmed meat, so if you see meat-like food, it's likely tofu or Beyond Beef. I should also mention that some of the food items may be for munchie purpoes...

Hi! My name is Mme Duthier, and sometimes, I like to use colourful language.

I'm perimenopausal, and I needed an outlet to let off steam in a creative way. I was already a strange and  inquisitive person, but thanks to these douchey hormonal imbalances, I now find myself feeling 'extra.' My grade 11 biology teacher once described me as a paradox wrapped in an enigma; others just call me a weirdo or a bitch. Whichever is the case, I've got some valuable education under my belt and some wide-ranging experience. My insatiable curiosity about the world, and by extension, about myself, has created a life that allows no time for boredom. Curiosity is both a gift and a curse; and, if you don't think you're cool... you're doing it wrong.
Wir sind die Coolsten!

WORD OF THE WEEK

disconsolate

  • without consolation or solace; hopelessly unhappy; inconsolable.

GET DOWN

I'm a big fan of ABBA, but I don't necessarily seek them out unless I'm in a specific mood. This song came on a few days ago and reignited my mood for some great disco. Chiquititta was released in 1979, and became a bigger hit later on. I've had that kind of reaction to music in the past, but there's no denying that it inspires one to want to sing along.

How amazing is it to have too much music to know what to do with? I discovered Lewis OfMan in 2024 when I was actively looking for new artists to refreshen my musical palette. Lewis OfMan is a musician and record producer, among other things, and is from Paris, France. He has collaborated with several artists, including Canada's own Carlie Rae Jespen. MOVIE & TV REVIEWS

Just... WOW. What a remarkably gripping Netflix series. Critics call Graham Hancock's approach "pseudoarcheological," but for those who've been following archeological discoveries over time, they know that the scientific community is often reluctant to erase and then rewrite history. That means someone was wrong —they no likey that! This shizz is right up my alley, so I'm already biased-- it's getting all the stars. For anyone interested in history, it's quite compelling that there are so many similarities among creation myths from cultures around the world. Whatever happened to inspire ancient civilizations to build megaliths must have been of great importance. I'm glad Graham didn't delve too deeply into religion; he kept his focus on archeological discoveries.

I can't even believe that I'm giving this movie a 3/5. I love the cast, I love the plot... but I sat there thinking that it was a tad TOO silly-- who am I? I'm not sure I like this version of Sherry who would think something was too silly. In any case, the special effects were fine, and the comedic timing in most scenes was on point, but it kind of felt like Paul Rudd wasn't giving it all he had, like his counterparts. I'm a huge fan of Paul Rudd, but I feel like he hasn't been challenged enough as an actor, and now it's showing.

More to come soon'ish! Patience is a virtue, and I know that you want to be a virtuous person, not that I'm manipulating you or anything.... ANYhoo, it's difficult to pick movies for a new blog when most of what you watch is bat-shit crazy.
I will have something soon, though.
